BIOGRAPHY:

Best Mann (aka Nate Mondschein) is an award-winning Massachusetts-based producer, songwriter, mixing engineer, drummer, Prince-devotee, and obsessive over small moments. Whether co-writing, running a session, drumming on a track, or working behind the board, Nate brings to each new track a passion for emotive, emotionally authentic performance, a drive to create and manipulate compelling analog sounds in a modern context, an ear for creative yet catchy arrangements, an encyclopedic catalog of musical references to draw upon and incorporate in an innovative way, and an unending commitment to the pocket.

Nate is the drummer and producer for Western MA-based Indie Folk band Cloudbelly, a founding member of the writing and production team 2Many Cooks, and the owner/chief operator of Echo Base Production (a full-service music production studio out of Leverett, MA). In October of 2019, he was awarded the Robert Allen Award from the ASCAP foundation for his songwriting and production work with Camille Trust on their song “Shadoop.”

Nate and Echo Base have worked alongside a diverse array of artists, including Ashley Hess, Henry Hall, KT Tunstall, Tropidelic, Wet Leather, Maria Lynn, Cloudbelly, Effee, Joey Baby, Todd Lewis Kramer, Jess Best, Wallace Field, Meagan Gunnip, Sodada, Spencer H., Josh the Word, and many more. Most recently, Nate produced the latest Cloudbelly LP, i know i know i know, which was released via Strange Library Records on 2/23/24 and nominated for Album Of The Year at the Boston Music Awards.
