BIOGRAPHY:

Best Mann (the alter-ego of Massachusetts-based producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and Prince-devotee Nate Mondschein) is an obsessive over small moments. Merging Art-Rock aesthetics, Hip-Hop-adjacent pocket, and Folk-style storytelling, Nate brings his diverse influences to bear in the form of lush, groove-heavy arrangements encircling observational, evocative lyrics. He likes telling stories about family, and anxiety, and love, and ghosts, and things he can’t remember as well as he wishes he could.

Nate’s entirely self-produced and performed debut album under the Best Mann moniker, …And the Sky, was released on October 25th, 2019, and has since been featured on a variety of playlists and publications, including Various Small Flames, Alexrainbirdmusic, For the Love of Bands, Wolf in a Suit, B-Sides and Badlands, Modern Trax: Indie & Alternative, Pretty in Noise, Inside Alt Vibes (Deep In Tune), and Flannel & PBR (High Road Publicity).

To mark the 6 month anniversary, Best Mann is releasing a followup single, “While You Wait” (a reimagining of the 2009 Grizzly Bear single “While You Wait For The Others”). Inspired by the lush vocal arrangement of the original track, “While You Wait” is a more modern sounding production, complete with heavy guitar stacks, jagged distortion, and the signature staggered drum grooves found on ...And the Sky.

Beyond Best Mann, Nate’s work as a songwriter, producer, and performer has been featured in a variety of publications, including The New Yorker, Afropunk, NEPR, Okayplayer, The Deli Magazine, and many more. In 2019, Nate received the ASCAP Robert Allen Award for his songwriting and production work with NYC singer/songwriter Camille Trust.
